Support for what you are going through

You do not have to manage it by yourself.

Depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, grief, and major changes can affect how you feel, think, connect with others, and move through daily life. Therapy offers a private, nonjudgmental place to talk openly, make sense of what is happening, and find ways forward that fit you.

A thoughtful, individualized approach

Care that considers the whole person.

Emotional well-being is shaped by more than symptoms alone. Relationships, family history, present circumstances, health, work or school, culture, and past experiences can all affect how someone feels and copes.

Patricia listens carefully to the context of each person’s life. Her background in psychology, counseling, and special education supports an approach that is clinically grounded, collaborative, and responsive to individual needs. When culture, language, disability, or learning differences matter to your experience, there is room to explore them without making assumptions.

  • Depression, anxiety & present stress
  • Relationships & family context
  • Culture & language when relevant
  • Disability & learning differences
My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you feel accepted, understood, and supported.

About Patricia

Experienced, compassionate, and attentive to the whole person.

Patricia Mathison is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who provides online individual therapy to adults and young adults physically located in Massachusetts or Florida at the time of each session. She works with people experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship and family concerns, stress, self-esteem difficulties, and significant life changes. She also has experience supporting college and graduate students and professionals facing academic or workplace pressures.

Her professional education began at the Instituto Universitario AVEPANE in Venezuela, where she earned the Técnico Superior Universitario en Educación Especial, mención Retardo Mental y Dificultades del Aprendizaje—explained for English-speaking readers as a higher technical university credential in special education, with a concentration in intellectual disabilities and learning difficulties. The program prepared professionals to support students with special educational needs through assessment, adapted learning environments, family collaboration, and inclusive educational planning.

She then earned the degree Licenciada en Psicología from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Venezuela—an official university degree in psychology. Her foreign psychology degree was later formally homologated in Spain. These descriptions explain Patricia’s academic preparation; they do not represent U.S. degree equivalency or authorization to practice. Her clinical services are provided exclusively under her applicable U.S. mental-health-counseling licenses.

Her style is warm, collaborative, and tailored to the person in front of her. She primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and integrates psychodynamic, interpersonal, trauma-informed, relational, and supportive approaches. Her personal and professional formation across Venezuela, Spain, and the United States can offer additional perspective when culture or migration is relevant. Therapy is available in English and Spanish.
